Simple Electromagnet at home


                            Hi guys in this article I am going to show you how to make a simple electromagnet at home very easily.


Things Needed:

                         In order to make this electromagent at home we need,


                         1. Bobbin (Sewing Machine)

                  2. An old DC motor coil or a copper coil.

                  3. A 9V battery.

                  4. A switch.


Step 1:

                       First wrap the copper coil around the bobbin as much as possible before wrapping the copper coil make sure that one end of the coil is kept outside of the bobbin.

Step 2:


                After successfully wrapped the coil on the bobbin remove the transparent insulation on the two ends of the coil to make the contacts for power supply.

Step 3:


                Then connect the two ends of the coil to the battery through a switch. Connect the switch in series with the positive or negative wire of the wherever you want.



                  Before turning the electromagent ON it won't attract anything.
 

                   But after turning it ON it attracts the metals. Here I am used safety pins for the example.



             If we want to build a powerful electromagnet then you have to choose a bigger metal piece than I choosed in this video. And the thickness of the coil should be higher. In order to power this you will need a higher DC power source. If you do so your electromagent will be quiet powerful and strong enough to lift heavy metal pieces or objects.
